Last week, SA’s marketing team discussed the potential impact that Amazon’s acquisition of Whole Foods can have on branding and marketing. Amazon bought Whole Foods for $41 a share, evaluating the company at $13.7 million, making it the tech company’s largest acquisition to date. The deal was kept quiet until finalized on June 15, which made the deal seem like somewhat of a shock to the consumer industry. The venture into grocery industry came as a surprise to most, but we think Amazon has the power and the plans to redefine the way we look at grocery shopping and consumer goods in general.
