All the signs pointed Kari in the direction of life as a PR professional—including the time she was voted “Most Likely to Run a PR Firm” by her fourth grade class. Commonly characterized as talkative and outgoing, she found that no matter what she involved herself in or what leadership role she took on throughout school, it was always communications based.
Kari was editor and chief of Oakton High School yearbook during her formative years, a position she obtained after attending yearbook camp with other aspiring writers, reporters and graphic designers where she participated in workshops to learn how to write feature and human interest stories. She was also a staff writer for her school newspaper and a tutor at the writing center in junior high. Looking back, Kari realizes she was doing everything she loved to do, all before she had a communications-focused career in mind.
“Because communications came easily to me, I never really thought it was a thing people needed as a service,” Kari explained. “Now I realize that a lot more people than I thought have challenges framing messages to achieve their end goals—but that’s one of my strengths!”
After graduating from UMass Amherst in 2016 with a degree in Operations Information Management, she immediately started working with PwC as an associate. During her year there, she worked with various different clients in financial services, health insurance, consumer products, and education. These experiences have prepared her well, as she is already charming SA clients with her talents.
“I learned about all types of things I never thought I would be interested in, good at or care about,” Kari reflected fondly when thinking back on her days at PwC. “I know there is a ton to learn, and the best way to learn is to be thrown in the deep—I feel like client service is that deep.”
So what exactly brought her to team SA?
“My goals are to experience as many industries as possible and to get exposure to non-profits and schools. That was one of my draws to Schneider,” she shared.
Throughout her past work experience, she has picked up knowledge in managing budgets, working across industries and working on teams. Her top goals for her position as an Account Executive are to become a stronger writer and learn more about digital marketing, which she’ll accomplish in no time if she continues to apply the passion she has shown in her work since her first day here.
“We are so excited that Kari has joined the SA team!” shared Director, Leah Gallagher. “Kari has jumped into the work head first and has already proven to be an asset on the accounts she is working on. We are looking forward to seeing her grow in her role here.”
Her bubbly personality and sharpened skills in creative and analytical thinking make her not only a great addition to the team but a pleasure to be around.
