The CEO of Schneider Associates, Joan now celebrates more than 30 years of representing a wide range of education, consumer, corporate, public affairs and real estate clients. As one of the lead strategists for many of Schneider Associates’ top clients, Joan is responsible for providing strategic and creative direction and will oversee delivery of the work. Joan’s client roster for launch spans diverse industries and includes Fortune 500 as well as emerging companies and brands.
A self-professed media junkie, Joan reads more than five newspapers per day and always knows what’s happening in the consumer products, professional services, education, financial and real estate realms. The former Information Services Manager of WBZ-TV, Joan always finds a visual angle for every story and pushes both clients and staff to think in pictures and not talking heads. Since 2001, Joan has been on a quest to interpret the constantly changing paradigm of new product launch. Her first book, New Product Launch: 10 Proven Strategies, offers methods for beating the new product failure rate by creating launch campaigns that are both innovative and effective. Her second book, The NEW Launch Plan: 152 Tips, Tactics and Trends from the Most Memorable New Products, is based on research from the annual Schneider Associates Most Memorable New Product Launch survey (MMNPL), 30 years of marketing experience and interviews with a wide variety of marketing experts who have launched thousands of successful new products. Joan also co-authored the April 2011 Harvard Business Review article, “Why Most Product Launches Fail.” An ongoing contributor to The Harvard Business Review blog, Joan wrote “The Amazon Fire Launch,” “How to Market to the iGeneration,” and “10 Tactics for Launching a Product Using Social Media.”
Joan has presented both in the U.S. and overseas. Corporations such as 3M®, DuPont® and General Motors® have invited Joan Schneider to present the latest information about launch to their senior executive teams. As a recognized thought leader on launch, Joan also has been quoted on the topic in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and USA Today, and has published dozens of by-lined articles in trade journals. A graduate of the Owner President Management Program (OPM 16) at Harvard Business School and Boston University’s College of Communication. Joan has served on the College of Communications Dean’s Executive Committee, the Board of the Women of the Harvard Club Committee, the Harvard Business School Alumni Board, the Ad Club Board, the board of the Preservation Alliance and the Worldcom program committee. She is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America (APR), and an active partner in Worldcom Public Relations Group, one of the world’s largest public relations alliances.
