Patriot Partners Breaks Ground On Wayside Commons -- The Area’s First Lifestyle Center

Schneider Associates Coordinates Milestone Event to Celebrate Start of Construction on Unique Open-Air Retail Development in Burlington

Burlington, Mass. (October 6, 2005) – In an exciting step forward, Patriot Partners, a joint venture between Framingham-based developers Mohawk Partners and Atlantic Management along with O’Connor Capital Partners, a New York-based manager of institutional real estate funds, today announced the official groundbreaking for Wayside Commons, the area’s first “Lifestyle Center.”

Featuring 190,500 square feet of premium retail and restaurant space in a town square setting, Wayside Commons will bring a number of new retail and dining concepts to the Burlington community and Route 128 belt. The project also features an open-air landscaped atmosphere that is pedestrian friendly and will incorporate high-end, specialty retailers with a focus on home goods and fashion along with popular restaurants featuring outdoor and café-style dining.

“When we set out to develop Wayside Commons, we wanted to create a project that would reflect the character of the Burlington community and also provide a one-of-a-kind entertainment, shopping and dining experience,” said Steve Rice, principal of Patriot Partners. “When finished, this will be a truly unique development in the area.”

Conveniently located off Interstate 95/MA Route 128, Wayside Commons is scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2006. Patriot Partners acquired the property in 1999 and in response to a sluggish office market, the development team began working with Burlington town officials in 2004 to explore smart-growth development options that would create the highest use for the site. Burlington Town Meeting Members approved the necessary zoning changes in September of 2004 that paved the way for Wayside Commons.
