Rockland Trust Expands into Providence with New Commercial Lending/Wealth Management Office

At a news conference on October 5th, Schneider Associates client Rockland Trust Company announced the opening of its first office in Providence, Rhode Island. The conference was attended by Governor Chafee, Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, Economic Development Corporation Director Keith Stokes, and Rockland CEO Christopher Oddleifson. The Massachusetts-based bank emphasized its commitment to conduct business in Rhode Island and its goal of doubling the $200 million it has already invested and creating more jobs within the state.

Since the news conference, there has been extensive media coverage on the opening and the future of Rockland Trust in the community. In an article published by the Patriot Ledger, a major daily in the Rockland Trust trading area, Oddleifson Rockland Trust CEO is quoted saying, “We had so much business in Rhode Island, we wanted to be in Providence and station some of our lenders right there to demonstrate our commitment to become one of the leading lenders in the area.” Other coverage secured for the press conference and new office included the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, Fox Providence, WPRI, WPRO News, NPR, Boston Business Journal, Providence Journal, Mayor Taveras’ blog and the Providence Business News.
