Meet our 2017 Interns!

This summer, we had seven wonderful interns join the team at Schneider Associates! Each offered something special to SA and we’re amazed at how they hit the ground running. Get to know more about them and the impact they’re having on the world of public relations and marketing!

Julia Ferreira

Where are you from?
Hamilton, MA

Where do (or did) you attend undergrad?
University of Massachusetts Amherst

What is your major? Minor?
Major: Communication
Minor: Spanish

What are your interests and hobbies?
I’m an avid yogi. I love being outside – hiking, walking my dogs, lying on the beach, and biking. I’m also a total foodie; I love trying new restaurants with friends and going out to eat. Don’t forget consignment shopping for Lily Pulitzer!

What are you most excited to learn while at SA?
This is my second summer with SA, so I’m excited to work on some new accounts this summer and build on the skills I learned last year. I also hope to improve my organizational skills when it comes to juggling multiple clients, all with different needs.

If you could only choose one social media channel, which would you pick and why?
Instagram, hands down. I’m a very visual person, so it’s the perfect platform for me. I love editing photos and building my own profile. I also really like the discovery aspect of Instagram, there is so much great content out there that’s relatively easy to find.

Amanda Michienzi

Where are you from?
Needham, MA

Where do (or did) you attend undergrad?
Boston University College of Communications

What is your major? Minor?
Mass Communications: Public Relations Track
College of Arts and Science Concentration in Italian Language

What are your interests and hobbies?
I danced competitively for 18 years. Now I enjoy barre classes and yoga. I love food; I would love to start a food blog someday or possible work in PR for the food industry.

What are you most excited to learn while at SA?
I am most excited to gain hands on experience at a public relations agency. I have learned a lot in my PR classes at BU and I am eager to put that knowledge into practice. I get excited whenever I have a task to do that is related to something I’ve learned in class. I also am very excited about the opportunity to work directly with higher level employees on various accounts. It is not something that most interns get the opportunity to do. I have heard so much about Joan’s success and I am excited to work with her and hopefully learn as much as I can.

If you could only choose one social media channel, which would you pick and why?
Facebook. I feel like Facebook has become more than just a fad social media platform, it connects people of almost every age. My parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and old friends I’ve lost touch with are all on Facebook. I think it’s a central way we can communicate and stay connected with one and other. I also like Facebook because I always find interesting videos to watch on my newsfeed, from politics and news to puppies and food recipes.

What are you most excited to learn while at SA?
I am interested to learn more about how a PR firm works, since it is such an important part of a business. I am also interested in learning more about marketing, social media marketing, and writing.

If you could only choose one social media channel which would you pick and why?
I love Instagram! I like how you only post the photos you love the most; it is like your own digital photo album. I love to follow famous accounts to get some artistic inspiration and I also love to follow animal accounts. Seeing photos of baby animals on my feed makes my day a little better.

Michelle Sofia

Where are you from?
Doylestown, PA but I have lived in Boston for the last 7 years.

What are you most excited to learn while at SA?
I’m excited to continue learning about marketing and design.

If you could only choose one social media channel, which would you pick and why?
As a designer I’d have to say Instagram! Not only is it a great platform to find inspiration, but it is also the best way to connect with other designers and receive (hopefully constructive) feedback from your work.

Instagram- they have managed to keep innovating in an age when social media platforms often have short life spans. In the past year they have developed new features for both daily users and businesses and seem poised to keep pushing the envelope in the coming years.
